As you may have found from his publisher’s website, Dr David R Hawkins has published eight books, on the subject of spirituality, listed below in a chronological order:

Power vs. Force
The Eye of the I
I: Reality and Subjectivity
Truth vs. Falsehood: How to Tell the Difference
Transcending the Levels of Consciousness
Discovery of the Presence of God
Reality, Spirituality and Modern Man
Healing and Recovery

The first book on the list was published in 1995; the last one, in 2009.

Understandably, the question arises: where do you start?
In other words, how to best approach this formidable body of works in order to maximize the experience, and more importantly, facilitate the process of understanding and assimilation terms and concepts that are well outside of those familiar to the ‘average’ reader.

Here’s my history of reading Dr Hawkins’ books.
I started with “Power vs. Force” a book, regarded as the entry point to his teachings. It actually happened by accident – this was the first book I came across. On reflection, this is the ideal starting point.

Transcending the Levels of Consciousness
The Eye of the I
I: Reality and Subjectivity
Discovery of the Presence of God
Reality, Spirituality and Modern Man
And finally, “Healing and Recovery.”

I see the last book as the culmination of Dr Hawkins’ giving to the humanity; with practical steps that anybody can implement in order to gain the most difficult gift of all – a good health.
At the same time I must say, I felt well ‘prepared’ to absorb (and hopefully understand correctly) his message, because of the profound changes occasioned in my life by reading and all preceding books. Yes, jumping right into “Healing and Recovery” as your first book, will possibly deprive you of benefiting from understanding the more ‘specialized’ concepts and messages that are entwined through each of his books. Ultimately, it’s your call. Make sure you make it soon. Will it change your life? No.
