Death and Dying from the Spiritual Perspective

When death arrives, it’s time to say farewell to one’s body. Death and the process of dying are taboo subjects in Western society. Two attitudes are common: outright denial and the hoping that somehow it’s going to be “all right”. Until the moment comes that we face the inevitable…
Those who did serious spiritual work during their lifetime, will find confronting death much less threatening that those who had chosen to ignore it, till the very last moment… when it is too late. Yes, it really is too late, for what could have been a deep spiritual experience, facilitating spiritual growth. Instead, facing death brings nothing more than a sheer terror – the agony of body and soul.

The above is a generalized description of dying – how we witness it. Yet, those who “came back” can attest that their “near-death experiences” were dramatically different. They report experiencing an infinite state of joy and ecstasy; the feeling of calm and peace assisted by sounds and images of exquisite beauty. So, why the terror that death strikes in hearts of humans and the fear of facing the inevitable?

In the experiences described above. One’s ego (the self) was left on the “worldly side”. The joy and beauty waiting on the other side were the Reality of the Self.
Spiritual masters whose Level of Consciousness calibrates at 600 and above, experience their Self and the Presence all the time. For them, dying is like changing old clothes for a new garb. They view dying as the opportunity to transcend spiritual obstacles and move closer to God. God, who gave us our Infinite Self – a life that never stops and is not subject to dying. God’s Love created you and I to be eternal.
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
