Spiritual Revival Aid Needed!

Who needs spiritual revival aid? Everyone.
Who will administer it? In most cases, the “for-profit” gurus and charlatans will pretend they do.
Who will accept it? Anybody who is hurting badly enough.
The above forms my perception of the current state of spirituality at large.
Intentionally, I’m excluding religions, churches, sects, cults, “movements” etc. not because they serve the humanity well; but because it’s a subject that could keep hundreds of writers busy for years…
Yes, my sole interest lies in finding out how the various spiritual schools, gurus and teachings, current and from the past, alleviate the pain of existence and help bring out the best in you and I.

Right now though, let’s narrow our perspective even further, and find out how the spiritual needs of those who face life’s toughest challenges: illness, old age and death, are addressed by the vast body of the contemporary and historical spirituality.
One typical example of a 76 y.o. wealthy widow, who for the last 15 years has travelled the world, trying to forget the loss of a husband, creeping illness, and the feeling of the loneliness “within”. No matter how beautiful the sunset was in Barbados and one more sunrise in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, their smoothing influence wears out quickly, and one day…
Yes, even without being told that “… your state of health prevents you from going on another cruise” you’ll succumb to the sad resignation that this is it.
Before you start feeling sorry for the lonely widow, spare a thought for a man living in your neighborhood. His only cruising is a once-a-day trip to the grocer, to buy some food. He cannot afford to buy a drink, to one more birthday, let alone a cruise trip.

We all are on a slide that leads to the grave. Yet those two sad figures with their lights of hope turned off, will get there far too soon; and, as they would readily admit, in a “bad shape”.
Is there some kind of spiritual aid that would give those sick and old a reason to live, and at the same time, a key to unlock the fear of death?
Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra and the likes won’t deliver here; not their “target audience”. On the other end of spectrum, reading works of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Sri Ramana Maharshi and other acclaimed gurus is plainly too difficult; it is often so, even for those still at the peak of their mental activity… Then there’s the “Western way” of spirituality, represented by the teachings of Dr David R Hawkins. But for those blinded by the old age and sickness, it is just too difficult, and too late. Is the inevitability of death the only thought they can cling to?

Being spiritually aware, we see their beingness to be the same as ours. Said Nisargadatta Maharaj: “We are all rays of the Absolute.” Indeed, we all belong to the same Reality – God. We all are one and the same – the Self. Why then do we practise our elitist spirituality, which has nothing to offer to those that need to proverbial bliss right now? Enough posturing, drum beating, and basking in the glory of a “realized” guru. Do you stand for love and compassion? Then live it and be it!
As for my part, making a “map to bliss” that those nearing their lives could read and use, is the first step. It will be called “Spiritual Revival Aid”. You too, need to do your own bit. Need more encouragement? Then read the words of St. Francis of Assisi: “Remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received – only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.”
