How to Use Consciousness to Overcome the Problem of Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a major addiction that cannot be overcome using “ordinary” means. What I mean by “ordinary” is what is available in 21st century, to alcoholics wanting to free themselves from their addiction; namely, pharmacological treatments which work on the addict’s body and techniques that alter their mind (hypnosis, etc.). As the past 100 years, or so testify, the only long-term successful treatment of alcoholism is that of using the methods developed by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Why? Because their methods are based on bringing the addicts to the Level of Consciousness of 500 – Love, and leading up to Unconditional Love at 540 and above.

At those high energy levels, the recovery rate is astonishingly high, and the process is permanent. Yes, while the “ordinary” methods have the recovery rate of almost zero, AA and participants of Twelve-Steps Groups, A Course in Miracles and faith-based recovery groups triumph decidedly over their addiction. All that is possible when Consciousness is the major vehicle/tool in the recovery process.

It’s all about moving from the small self to the capital self. Addicts’ personality makes no difference. All that matters is their humility and willingness to accept help from others who suffer the same predicament. Just as AA pamphlet says: “Just bring the body, and you’ll get it by osmosis.” In practice, it means that it is the unconditional love of the healing field itself that supports, nurtures and about the miracle of recovery. It is not accidental that the feeling of gratitude very much characteristic of AA, is at the LOC 540.

The willingness to be understanding and forgiving facilitates the joyful states characterized by the desire to heal through understanding and compassion. This is vital, as it makes the beginning of the transfiguration in one’s consciousness.
One starts to see the perfection of the world and begins to experience the oneness of all life and all things. The same willingness makes one to understand God as a friend – a merciful and promising God that responds to our call for help.

There’s a hidden benefit in being addicted to alcohol. More than that – often speakers at AA meetings say that they are grateful for being alcoholics. Are they being crazy? No, if you understand that becoming an alcoholic has forced one to grow and become conscious. Next, the awareness comes and the feeling of gratitude for the unfolding process. Without it, some people would never have reached this greater understanding of God… at least not in this lifetime. I strongly encourage you to read Dr David R. Hawkins’ book “Healing and Recovery” and discover the solutions you never thought were possible!
