Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj’s Final Teachings

Many spiritual practitioners will be familiar with the name Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. For a relative novice such as myself, his teachings appear to be very difficult to comprehend, at least at a first approach. That was exactly my experience after coming across NetiNetiFilms.com publishers of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj’s teachings and works of one of his closest disciples – Dr Stephen Wolinsky.

Yes, after studying works of Dr David R. Hawkins for almost two years, the new ways of looking at Consciousness seemed to be more than challenging. What Maharaj proposes seemed dry, sterile, theoretical and too distant to even conceive a hope that one day… one can get close, to understanding him.
But, after listening to the samples offered on the website, some strange attraction “caused” me to search deeper for the meaning of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj’s message.

Whether it was his voice, recorded during one of the last of his public teachings, or the deep sense of peace emanating from his face… God only knows. Couple weeks later, a set of two DVDs arrived from NetiNetiFilms. Titled: “Consciousness and Beyond – The final teachings of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj” it consists of almost three hours of a moving spiritual experience. Although, he himself would have scoffed at me; according to his teachings, so called “spirituality” is one of many illusions. And, wait for this… so is Consciousness.

Yes, one of his most profound teachings declares: “That who we are, is prior to the I Am, and even Prior to and Beyond Consciousness itself.”
Having realized that Consciousness too should be appreciated as not this, not this, has the power to propel a seeker into a taste of the Eternal Absolute, the Primordial Advaita.
Truly powerful and moving teachings, in my experience, that no doubt will be recognized for what they are, by those seeking their true Source.
